Buttercup-Adopted

Buttercup is a 5 year old diva on high alert. She loves to walk back and forth in front of her cage, meowing with that “come hither” look, only to give you a smack down if you dare put your hand in – or not; depends on her mood. She was surrendered due to allergies; there didn’t seem to be cattitude issues in her prior home, so it could be the shelter environment that has her very confused and frightened. Our volunteers tried to find her softer side and quickly learned that her “look but don’t touch” rule was a nonnegotiable, even though she has that beautiful coat of fur that you just want to pet. If you try to pet her when she’s not interested, she’ll raise her paw like a warning sign – a classic diva move. However in the right surroundings she may adjust beautifully – we just don’t know. She is very reactive towards other cats so she must be an only pet in a quiet, adult only home with a human who understands personal space.
