Fundraising Chair (Unpaid Position)
Quincy Animal Shelter (QAS) is looking for a Fundraising Committee Chair to oversee the Shelter's fundraising and special event activities. QAS's survival depends on this position, therefore the candidate must be an experienced fundraiser, capable of developing successful fundraising campaigns, and be familiar with potential sponsors on the South Shore. The Chair will also need to be comfortable with leading and motivating the committee and able to organize and delegate tasks.
Candidates should send a cover letter and resume to
Kit Burke, c/o QAS, P.O. Box 88, Quincy, MA. 02269

Feral Cat Program (Wild Cats)
Our Feral Cat Program is in dire need of people to become feeders for the feral cats of Quincy. If these feral animals do not get fed regularly, they will not have the immunity to fight disease and may succumb to illnesses. Being a Feral Cat feeder means you would feed the cats at a set time each day (to get them into a routine that makes it easier in the event of trapping), and it's usually just once a day. You would watch out for them and make sure they all show up for dinner and if not, try to find out if they are ok. Over time, you'll learn to recognize each of the cats and if they are hurt or sick you would contact the Feral Cat Program Coordinator. Consider yourself a "Sigourney Weaver, in Gorillas in the Mist", but with a much happier outcome for all involved and without the mountains to climb! Please help our Feral Cat Program and these needy cats and kittens, all it takes is 15 minutes of your day to drop off food and watch the cats and kittens eat dinner or breakfast, that's it, they will thank you for it. For more information, see the Feral Cat Program page by clicking here.
If you are interested or can help in any way with our Feral Cat program, please contact our Shelter Director at 617-376-1349 or by email at feralcats@quincyanimalshelter.org. Cash donations can also be made to the attention of the Feral Cat Program.
Medical Team Member:
Administer meds to our cats and dogs. If you can commit to at least one two-hour morning or evening shift per week, please contact our MEDICAL MANAGER at 617-376-1349 or by email at medical@quincyanimalshelter.org. If you don't have vet tech experience but are comfortable handling a variety of animals, we will train you.
Dog Trainer:
Can you make a regular commitment to a special dog? You will help him/her to become more adoptable, and you will make a new best friend at the same time. Please contact our CANINE MANAGER/TRAINER at 617-376-1349 or by email at caninemanager@quincyanimalshelter.org.
Data entry/clerical assistant needed
We are in the process of developing an E-Newsletter and we need to compile our donor, adopter and member information into a spreadsheet. We also need someone to maintain the current membership and donor database. The ideal candidate should be comfortable using a PC, be familiar with excel and word and should be available 2-4 hours per week, (spending less time as we get caught up.)
Adoption Reps/Greeters:
Adoptions are the lifeblood of the shelter, if we cannot find homes for the animals we have in house, we cannot take more in off the streets. Being an adoption rep is a very rewarding position, you get to meet people from all walks of life and get to match them up with their new forever friend, what could be better than that?! However, being an adoption rep requires excellent communication skills, a non judgmental attitude, attention to detail and commitment. If you have what it takes, please consider helping out with adoptions. Currently we have a huge need for adoption reps/greeters and even if you can only commit to 2 hours a week, it'd be a great help.
Do you have a special skill (Photography? Writing? Construction? Gardening?) or are you interested in Volunteering for any of the above tasks? If so, please print out our Volunteer Application and drop it off at the Shelter during regular adoption hours, or mail it to: Quincy Animal Shelter, PO Box 88, Quincy, MA 02269-0088. Contact the our Volunteer Coordinator at 617-376-1349 or by email at volunteer@quincyanimalshelter.org with any questions.
