To continue our mission of rescuing more animals, we are always planning fundraising and educational events. The Quincy Animal Shelter is a No-Kill, 100% Volunteer-run, Non-Profit Organization, so all donations go toward animal care, education, and fundraising. Medical care, including spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations, is by far our greatest expense. Please check this page frequently for event updates! THANK YOU!

Upcoming Events!

Dear QAS Friend,

In 2008, The Quincy Animal Shelter will produce a unique book of recipes for humans and our companion animals. "Recipes for Caring" a collection of recipes and Shelter Success Stories will express ways we care for one another and for our beloved pets, and is the culmination of the efforts of many in the past.

This will not be an ordinary fundraiser cookbook! We hope this will be a treasured collection of recipes that you will turn to often. We need your help to make this a high-quality, successful book.

Please look over your recipe collection for one or two special recipe "donations." A special dish your family looks forward to at Thanksgiving, a prized recipe handed down to from your Great Aunt Sue or a great recipe for "comfort food." We need all variety of recipes: appetizers, entrees (both meat and vegetarian), side dishes, salads and desserts. In addition, we need recipes for special treats or meals you prepare for your pet. We need unique, home-made recipes, so please do not submit any copyrighted or manufacturer's recipes.

Whether or not you contribute a recipe, please consider sending a picture of you and your pet, or just of your pet, along with a short story (100 words or less) of how you found each other. Tell us how your rescued pet has changed your life!

About Us

The Quincy Animal Shelter is a 100% volunteer-run organization. The Shelter has NO PAID STAFF and relies completely on our volunteers and the community for support. Incorporated in November 1999 as a non-profit Massachusetts charity, we are also a recognized charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Since 1999 the Quincy Animal Shelter has placed more than 3,600 cats and dogs into loving and forever homes through out MA and New England.

• As a "no kill" shelter, we make every effort to find the right home for every animal in our care. This means we exercise the same ethical and humane treatment of animals in our facility that you would for your own family feline or canine friend. Every animal receives age-appropriate vaccinations and, if old enough, is spayed or neutered before finding its forever family.
• Delivering this type of care involves many volunteers, an active and dedicated management, and a lot of money. Our budget runs approximately $100,000 every year in order to keep doing what we do to help the dogs and cats of Quincy. • Our capacity at the Shelter is limited to a maximum of 12 dogs and 15 to 25 cats, depending on ages and condition of the cats. Our dream is to eventually find a larger facility so that we can continue our mission on a larger scale and serve the continuous needs of the community and the animals.
